Immigration law firms usually charge an hourly rate or a flat fee for a case. Community organizations and nonprofits operate with government and private grants and do not charge their clients legal fees.

RIG primarily uses flat fees. We prefer flat fees. We want our clients to call with their questions or concerns without being worried about minute-by-minute charges. Flat fees are easier to understand and budget, too!

The flat fee includes all the legal work required for the case type listed in the service agreement. It includes preparing the forms, providing evidence for each element of the case. Briefs are included for certain case types. Your service agreement will list what work is included. If we think you could require more work to complete your case, we will talk to you and include a reminder in the service agreement.

Flat fees do not include costs that families may need to pay other service providers such as government filing fees, translators, doctors, or records providers. If your case changes during the representation, we will discuss the issue with you and update the strategy and fees. For a list of common additional costs click here.

RIG has a fee schedule that attorneys modify based on the urgency of the case, available evidence, difficulty of arguments, and other factors. We provided family and returning client discounts. If you have a question about how your fee was calculated, just ask!

It depends on your case, but we understand that it is important for clients to get an idea before they schedule an appointment. The fees below are for typical cases. If your case is urgent, difficult, lacks evidence, etc., the price will be 20% more.
